Production color matching

Proof of concept for EXA Ceramic. Compare a production trial with the approved master, read the control strip, and get the print-file correction that brings the next trial back within tolerance.

Control strip

Printed on every trial. Top half of each patch is the approval firing, bottom half is the latest trial. The figure is ΔE00 between them.

Plus 8 overprint patches, used to measure how inks interact in the kiln.

Diagnosis

What the control strip says changed, and what ink can and cannot fix.

  • Read the control strip to see the diagnosis.

Palette check

The master’s main colors, compared with the latest trial over the same areas of the tile.

Correction curves

Applied to the print file as a Photoshop adjustment layer. Nothing changes in the RIP.
